The Girl Who Was Supposed to Die by April Henry- Reviewed by Ben

5/17/2015

I am very happy I read this book. This is not a book I would have normally picked up on my own, but I am very happy my book club chose it. The Girl Who Was Supposed to Die is a suspense/ action/ mystery novel. This book starts when a girl wakes up and doesn't remember anything. Then, a man comes and drags her to the woods to kill her. During all of this, the girl still remembers nothing, not even her own name. Then she escapes from her abductor. As the story goes on, the main character starts to learn more about her past but her memory is still mostly gone. From the very first page to the last page, this book had me on the edge of my seat making me want to read on. This book is short in length and well paced, however I did feel the ending was slightly rushed. The Girl Who Was Supposed to Die is also a Truman nominee. I would rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. I recommend this book and I am looking forward to reading more of April Henry's books in the future.

Legend By Marie Lu - Ben

1/3/2015

Legend by Marie Lu is a dystopian fiction book. This book has two main characters: Day, a  15 year old criminal, and June a fifteen year old military prodigy. At first the two characters seem complete opposites, but as the book progresses the two paths intertwine. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat, and make you want to keep reading. One thing that I liked in particular about Legend was that since the chapters alternate between the two characters, when one character was narrating the font was one color, and when the other character was narrating the font was another color. I would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. This book is the first in a trilogy and I am looking forward to reading the other two books.

Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz is the first book in the Alex Rider series.
This book falls into the adventure genre. The main character is named Alex Rider a 14 year old boy who went to live with his uncle when his parents died in a plane crash. I don't want to spoil anything so I'll give you a very brief overview. Events happen and suddenly Alex finds himself caught up in the world of espionage, and he goes on his first mission. I absolutely loved this book. The plot keeps your attention and makes you want to keep reading until the very end. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.
