The Muralist is one of the best books that I have read this year!  Alizee Benoit is a painter working for the WPA (Works Progress Administration) in New York City just prior to the beginning of the WWII.  She works alongside Lee Krasner and their group of friends include Jackson Pollack and Mark Rothko.  She also has the courage to approach Eleanor Roosevelt during one of her visits to the WPA and develops a unique bond with her.  Alizee corresponds with her Jewish family in German occupied France and grows concerned for their safety.  She struggles to obtain visas for them so they may meet her in America.  

The Muralist is historical fiction at its best.  I learned so much not only about that period in history but also the art of that time.  B.A. Shapiro does a fantastic job bringing the characters and time period to vivid life.  I would highly recommend this book to any historical fiction fans and any reader who simply enjoys a well written story.

Mary Higgins Clark is a master storyteller and this latest book is no exception.  All Dressed in White is part of the Under Suspicion series that is written with Alafair Burke, who is also a great author in her own right.  I have read previous books in this series, however they really can be read as stand alone novels also.  The Under Suspicion novels feature television producer Laurie Moran as she attempts to shed new light on cold cases for her television show Under Suspicion.  All Dressed in White brings Laurie and her crew to Florida to delve into the disappearance of a young bride.  The entire wedding party gathers at the resort and of course, they all have secrets they are hiding.  In true Mary Higgins Clark fashion, you are kept guessing until the end.  

I really enjoyed All Dressed in White and would recommend it for a enjoyable suspenseful read.  I received this book from Simon & Schuster through Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.  

The Good Neighbor was a quick read but somewhat predictable.  The prologue grabs your attention quickly.  "I'm drowning.  The river's current is tearing me apart."  I wanted to continue reading to the story's end, but had pretty much figured out the conclusion.  I would have liked a few more twists and turns in the plot to create some additional suspense.  

​Overall, the book was enjoyable and I rated it three stars.
